Happy Wednesday to everyone and I’m sure most of us are suffering with the mid week crisis and desperately waiting for the lazy Saturday mornings. Hence, just trying to spice things a little bit for you by sharing my recent article published on Wave magazine’s June issue. Try and get hold of your copies of wave this month but if you can’t then here is what I have to say and share about my take on Fashion this month!
“Music festivals are the “in” thing right now and have been since a pretty long time. It is the most exciting time of the year where numerous people from diverse corners of the world gather in a beautiful land of fantasy to merge into a single entity to celebrate the occasion of color, light, dance, fashion, sound and love. Accordingly, every music festival around the world has their own characteristics and is unique in their own ways. All the elements like the colorful themes, funky costumes, breathtaking locations, best sounds and outstanding performances are designed with a goal to make people get out of the ordinary and stay locked out of the chaotic world and find inner peace.
In addition, with a huge rise and demand of electronic music these festivals are getting brutally better and bigger. Music festivals like Coachella, Tomorrow Land and Wood stock are conquering the young and cool crowds and as a result influencing the fashion scene! Although we are not as lucky as our friends abroad we can’t help but enjoy and get influenced by these bold trends! We can still get inspired by the Boho – chic fashion that is taking the fashion world by storm! The main reason for its popularity is the fact that we don’t have to compromise with comfort and style as it is the perfect amalgamation of both! The look is comfy, laid back and breezy and oh so perfect for the spring and summer days! When we say Music festival it’s all about letting go of yourself and being who you want to be and doing what you want to do without the care in the world away from the judgmental looks of the society! It’s all about having fun and being who you are and I love it when people do that and don’t take fashion too seriously and have fun while dressing up.
Evidently, I have been crazy about this trend and as a result I ended up making a mini collection centered around this larger than life trend. I have put together two very different looks, for you guys with the Wave team. The first look is inspired by the 70s retro fashion and I have created a vintage floral print maxi dress with a small cut out on the midriff to add a little edge to the traditional silhouette and kept the makeup and accessories very minimal to go with the look. The second one is a psychedelic print bias cut dress paired with a leather jacket and bootie to add a badass vibe! You could try out these looks in our very own Nepal’s Music festivals like Jazzmandu, Shanti Jatra, Sundance and Mountain Madness which are world famous. However, it’s not a compulsion for you to go to a music festival to sport these looks as these trends will look just as cool walking down the streets of Thamel as they will on the open fields of a festival. Just enjoy the looks and get inspired to experiment and play around with them as it would be perfect for the hotter days and a hotter you!”
